Our History

Back in 1960 the (Stanley)Bach family had the great idea of opening a small campground on the Southwest shore of Mindemoya Lake in Spring Bay (henz the name Stanley Park Campgrounds)

Their first season started with two quaint tenting sites in their backyard. These sites are now known as Sites #1 and #2. From there the word got around on how beautiful and peaceful Lake Mindemoyas’ shoreline was.  A few years later the Neviles family purchased the property.  Then in 1972 Don McLean and his wife Gayle took over.  They worked hard with the help of their children and expanded the park extensively.  With 110 acres of property they had lots of work ahead of them, building the park up to over 200 sites.

Then in 1992 after 10 years in the Armed Forces, Don hired Randy Tolsma as a general labourer, teaching him every aspect of camp life and duties.  After tons of hard work Randy and his wife Tina were given the opportunity to purchase the campground.  Thinking about it for less than a moment they jumped at the chance and in 1998 they took over never looking back.  With many years of upgrades and personal touches they now have a  Family Campground with over 250 seasonal sites and 25 transient sites. Throughout their years of running Stanley Park, raising their family and working side by side with Randys’ brothers they have always considered their registrants as family.
